Breastfeeding Help

As a breastfeeding counselor I provide non-judgemental assistance to women and their families in establishing breastfeeding and helping them to overcome common challenges that can arise during the course of nursing.

Visits are conducted in your home so you can be comfortable while you communicate your situation to me. I will observe you and your child while you breastfeed and together we will establish a simple plan for getting nursing on-track.

If I encounter a problem that is beyond my skills, I will always refer you to another health care professional with more knowledge such as a lactation consultant or pediatrician.

If you think that you might need some help with breastfeeding please call me or another health care professional as soon as possible; many challenges that arise are easily corrected if they are addressed right away.

Fees
Home visit - $75
Milage - $1/km over 5km from my location
Overtime - $10 per half-hour (if the session lasts more than one hour)

Please note: If you are looking around for breastfeeding help, it is important to know that the only certified designation in BC is Lactation Consultant. When you see people calling themselves "Certified Breastfeeding Counsellor", know that this really means that they have completed the Douglas College Breastfeeding Certificate course; they have a certificate of completion, but should not refer to themselves as "certified", which implies that they are approved by a certifying body.
